Below are resources for members of the media who are interested in spit tobacco sponsorship of rodeos and related events such as rodeo-themed bar nights. For further information, contact Andrea Craig Dodge, Director, Buck Tobacco Sponsorship project, at (510) 302-3324 or
acdodge@phlpnet.org.

Buck Tobacco congratulates the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) for its ending its sponsorship relationship with the US Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC), effective at the end of 2009. This is a major victory for tobacco control advocates in California and across the country, who have worked hard for many years to raise the issue publicly and push for policies rejecting tobacco sponsorship of rodeos. We strongly encourage the PRCA to replace USSTC with a healthy sponsor, not another tobacco company.

As thousands gathered in Las Vegas for the 2004 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) National Finals Rodeo (NFR) -- the largest U.S. rodeo event of the year -- a group of activists urged the PRCA not to renew its national sponsorship contract with the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC) in 2005.
