Going smokeless a good idea

THUMBS UP to Pro-Rodeo Productions of Poway for deciding to go tobacco-free this year, even when it comes to sponsorship money. The company, which organizes the Poway Rodeo, is partnering with the American Lung Association to help make the popular community event even more family friendly. The Poway Rodeo’s previous longstanding relationship with U.S. Smokeless Tobacco yielded prize money and a sponsorship booth, where company representatives handed out gifts to adult rodeo-goers. The rodeo’s tobacco ban will mean a “substantial amount of monetary loss,” but organizers say they’ll strive to make up for it elsewhere.
